Clubs, Activities, and Destinations

Experience gained in campus clubs and activities greatly enhances your professional development, including adding to your outdoor skills and leadership.

  • American Water Resources Association - This is a brand new student organization, and as such we are looking for ideas across every aspect of water resources, from speakers to kayaking trips, from policy to wading in wetlands.  If interested, email: awra.umd[at]gmail.com for more information.
  • Clean Energy for UMD - promotes energy efficiency and clean energy practices at the University of Maryland and surrounding communities. Meetings: Mondays, 7 pm, Nanticoke Room, SSU. email: jcalabre[at]umd.edu
  • College Park Environmental Group (CPEG) - a great way to get involved in service (stream cleanups, tree plantings, etc.), education (local elementary school programs), and recreation (rafting, hiking, camping, etc.). All majors welcome! Email: ewolfso1@umd.edu for more info.
  • College Park Law Society - provides students insight into several types of law, such as civil, patent, criminal, environmental, etc., and guidance to those interested in applying to law school. Email: collegelaw[at]gmail.com
  • Ecological Economics Group - a graduate student group that welcomes undergraduate ENSP students.
  • Emerging Green Builders - creates awareness of sustainability among Architecture students by providing support and resources to integrate green building practices into their studies and careers. Open to all students. Contact: jbrady3[at]umd.edu
  • Engineers Without Borders - a student chapter of a national organization (EWB-USA) that partners with developing communities to improve quality of life through the implementation of environmentally sustainable, equitable, and economical engineering projects. All majors are invited!
  • Maryland Food Co-op Collective - work for food :+)
  • Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) - meet friends, have fun, learn outdoor skills!
  • Society for Green Business - promotes sustainable business values by introducing students to new and innovative ways in which businesses have adopted green practices, encouraging students to value environmental concerns, and advocating for green measures at the university.   • Solar Decathlon Team - A student run organization that welcomes team members from all majors.
  • TERP IMPACT - a great way to meet others while volunteering for the common good.
  • Terrapin Trail Club - does LOTS more than hiking!
